The Petrified Fish PF929 EDC is a fantastic, sharp and well-made EDC knife that can be used for any typical EDC function, as well as “hard use” for hiking, camping, and general outdoor activities. The D2 steel came super-sharp out-of-box, and the green G10 scales are nicely textured. Overall length is 8 and 3/8″, blade is 3.5″, and handle scales 4.75″. The thickness of the handle is .5″, and combined with thick steel liners, and a 2.25″ G10 back-spacer, makes for a very robust knife. The 1 and 3/8″ wide blade with a nice thumbhole and high grind, is quite robust, and when folded, is 1 and 5/8″ wide in the pocket. The blade is perfectly centered, and the flipper tab deployment is solid and reliable, with zero blade wobble. The pocket clip, though not reversible, is very nice and the knife feels secure in pocket, though a bit heavier and larger than an “average” EDC. Overall, the PF929 is a VERY Sharp, Very Robust EDC that I highly recommend for serious EDC tasks.

This is a large knife with an excellent Buck drop point blade and supposedly has the Buck lifetime warranty. It readily flips out and locks into place with a liner lock. Feels well made to close tolerances. I was surprised by two things; the knife is made in China and it is much heavier than I thought it would be with the carbon fiber handle. For some reason I thought Buck knives advertised that they are made in the USA?
Update: Had the knife for awhile now. The more I handle it the more I like it. Very well made knife at a great price. Raised the rating from 3 stars to 5 stars.

I’m adding another 5 star rating. I have been a knife guy for 58 years, carried at 6 years old. My 1st Eafengrow. This knife clicks ALL the boxes. This is also my first Jade or Natural G10 handle. Blade grind is cool . Know I’m a fan of a wharncliff blade. Perfectly executed and perfectly centered. I do believe blade is D2. The jade green g10 is translucent and has the look as if it would glow, gladly it does not. They even lightened steel in each side of liners they have 4 circular holes each guessing 8mm or so in size. After reading reviews of some other knives of theirs with various troubles. In here to tell you this knife is right and tight and smooth. I will add a further review of blade steel at a future time. If fit and finish are any indication, it’s “Golden”.
